Protecting your rights

If the SAVE Act becomes law, it will create so many obstacles for eligible voters – those without original birth certificates, passports, Real ID, those with name changes, first-time voters, and people with documents that don’t meet federal standards will have their votes thrown out! We must stand together to fight this.

Right now, in New Mexico, only first-time voters registering by mail need to show a physical ID. Our current system relies on trusted source records to verify identity and eligibility, without demanding additional physical documents during registration. We must preserve this efficient and inclusive process.

Every day is Veterans Day

One of the greatest honors I have had is serving as Cabinet Secretary of Veterans Services. I had the privilege of meeting veterans and their families across this state. Two experiences stay fresh in my mind, the first was in meeting Navajo Code Talker Mr. Peter MacDonald, and greeting our Vietnam War Veterans when they returned from their DC honor flight.

I served our veterans and their families with the deep-seated belief that we don’t serve alone. My motto is, "Every Day is Veterans Day," because we must never forget their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their families.

Elections matter—and we’re living the impact of those choices every single day. Now is not the time to step back or tune out. There’s too much at stake. Protecting our democracy demands bold leadership, smart legislation, reliable technology, and most importantly, the collective will of the people. I bring a proven record of results as a former New Mexico cabinet secretary and the courage to lead with clarity and conviction. I’ve spent years working on the ground to improve lives in our state—and I know what it takes to turn vision into action. I may not have every answer, but I know how to get things done—and I’m ready to get to work.
